5 tips on how to look after Summer hair
Sand, salt, events and busy schedules on repeat make maintaining healthy shiny hair a little tricky around this time of year. It’s a love-hate relationship when it comes to our locks..the constant battle with wanting it to be bright blonde while not damaging it at the same time or making sure to use the right products (and not forget about it when the time comes!).
We have put together our 5 top tips for keeping those locks healthy and shiny all summer long. Being a little more mindful after the beach or starting to use a mask will make the biggest difference to your hair, the knots will be gone and your hair will be silky smooth.
- Wash out saltwater
After enjoying the gorgeous Perth beach for your morning dip, make sure to use the showers at the beach just to give your hair a quick rinse before meeting your friend for coffee or heading into the shops. By rinsing out the salt this will help not dry out your ends and will be manageable until you properly wash it later on. We are currently using Kerastase Nutritive Bain Satin 1 Shampoo and Kerastase Resistance Conditioner.
- Use a hair mask
Swap out your weekly face masks for a hair mask, perfect for giving your hair the extra love and treatment it needs over the summer months. We are currently using Kerastase Nutritive 8h Night Serum.
- Lay off the heating tools
We know this can be hard especially when we rely on it, but even reducing the straighteners once a week can help in the long run. With the harshness from the sun plus the rest of it, this can already be damaging without adding more to the mix. If you do need to heat your hair, make sure you protect it first. We are loving Kerastase Nutritive Nectar Thermique thermal protect.
- Wash less often
You might feel the urge to wash your salty hair every day after the beach but fun fact…the more you wash it, you are stripping your scalp and hair of much-needed oils! Try every three days or use dry shampoo in between.
- Visit the hairdresser
Over the months don’t forget to pop by your hairdresser to trim off the dry ends and maintain your colour. Not only will you be left feeling fresh, but your hairdresser will also be able to give you some take-home care suited for your hair type. Founder Rayne Bryant has been heading to Maurice Meade who have many salons around Western Australia.
They are also offering Summer Blonde Packages at the moment starting from just $175. Check out www.mauricemeade.com.au for more details.
