7 things to do in Perth these school holidays
Once again, 10 weeks has come around and the July school holidays are here. Instead of jetting off to sunny Broome or Bali with the rest of Perth why not venture out within our own busy city and see what Perth has on offer for your young ones. Even better, some of these you can join in on too and have a sneaky glass of wine while you sit back and watch them be entertained all afternoon long.
Here’s our list of 7 things to do these school holidays, happy reading and happy planning.
1. Winter World Fremantle
We’ve spoken about this before here on Rayne Élla and we want to keep talking about it!! Located in the heart of iconic Fremantle, ice skating, free activities, snow and more will be happening from 29th June right through until the 21st July. Your kids will love the entertainment and ice skating while you can enjoy the food stalls and bars. Find out more info here https://www.winterworld.com.au/
2. Palace Cinemas school holiday special
After a busy day why not take the stress off yourself and head to the movies for a peaceful few hours. We know movies can be expensive, after tickets and then snacks but we’ve found a bargain, $11 tickets! This offer is valid from 6-21 July for sessions prior to 5pm for the films Toy Story 4 and Secret Life of Pets. You can find out more about tickets here, www.visitperth.com.au
3. Staycation at Crown Hotels
Treat yourself to a luxury night away at the one and only Crown Hotels. With lots of packages to suit your preferences whether you’d prefer a buffet breakfast, an in-room movie and valet parking or a games night, they have something for you. The kids will be as happy and relaxed as you. More at www.crownperth.com.au
4. Carillion city
Carillon City together with the City of Perth will play host to an exhibition called, Water Wildlife up Close. This exhibition will run from Monday July 8 to Friday July 12, 10am to 3pm daily. Children and adults alike can meet a shark, sea stars, urchins, turtles, frogs and other underwater creatures. There will be three fantastic and educational hands-on shows a day, mixed with opportunities for little scientists to learn about macroinvertebrates and get creative with sand art. More here.
5. Go to Rottnest free ferry tickets
You can’t live in Perth and not have been to Rottenest! It might not be the best weather for swimming but it’s still a great place to spend some quality time with the family. The time hasn’t been better as the most expensive thing from the outing – the ferry- is free for children when you purchase an adult ticket. Simply add a child fare at the time of booking and this promotion will automatically be applied at checkout. For those staying on the Island for an extended time, they are offering free luggage and bike freight per person! Quote ‘JULYHOLIDAY19’ at the time of this promotion and for more information visit www.experienceperth.com
6. Scarborough beach markets
Again, we’ve spoken about this before but make an afternoon of it on your Saturday. Fire pits, wine, food stalls and a great atmosphere, this has to be on your to-do list throughout July. The events have now been happening for a few weeks and the reviews have been great, so get the kids away from the screens, rug up and watch the waves roll in. More info on the markets here.
7. Road trip
I know this isn’t necessarily a Perth activity, but we live in such an amazing City with so many places in reach. Whether you only have a few days to spare so need to go somewhere close or want to make the most of the two weeks, take a trip up North to popular and sunny Exmouth, down south to Margaret River or a quick drive to Moore River, there’s always something to see and do. Plus, a little getaway from the city can be the perfect thing.
We’d love to know what you have planned for these school holidays and we can add it to our own to do list!
