Love them, hate them, agree with them or don’t, essential oils are here to stay and they are also gaining a huge amount of traction in the wellness world. I’ve had a good experience with essential oils and I thought I would share it with you.
I first tried essential oils when Heidi Anderson lathered me up in Dōterra Oils while I was on my death bed (well flu and strep throat to be honest) on a work trip to Carnarvon. I really noticed a near immediate difference and since then I have been slowly adding them to different parts of my life and introducing them into the kids routines.
The gorgeous Emma sent me some oils to try at home and just yesterday morning I put the ‘tummy ache’ blend on my son Lux because he was complaining of a tummy ache.
I asked Emma for some more information about how I can use them and I loved the info so much I thought I would share it with you.

Dōterra essential oils for me, are a must-have in my home. There’s not a day that goes by where I don’t use them on myself or on my kids. There are so many ways you can use them to support your health and that of your family, naturally. That’s not to say that modern medicine and Dr’s are not needed, that’s not the case at all, but if I can use peppermint oil to help with a headache rather than a tablet, then that’s what I’ll try first.
I use the oils for so many things; tummy aches, headaches, hay-fever, ear aches, snoring, immune support, sleep, cuts and scrapes and hormone support juts to name a few. You can use them in a roller, add them to your own homemade body cream or chest rub or simply diffuse them.
I discovered Dōterra when we were having a bad run with coughs and colds. The kids seemed to be sick all the time. They’d get better and then they’d get another cold. I was using a humidifier with cheap essential oils from the supermarket thinking they would help my kids sleep and breathe better at night, but I soon figured out that they weren’t doing anything other than creating a damp mould in their bedrooms and in my opinion, that’s worse than having a cold.
It was then that I came across a Dōterra Wellness Advocate hosting a ‘make n take’ workshop in Butler where I could make my own products to take home and try. I was educated on the many chemicals that are in commercial products and their possible side effects and decided I didn’t want them in my home or on my kids’ bodies.
I purchased a couple of oils and finally a diffuser, an ultrasonic diffuser. The ultrasonic diffuser disperses only the essential oils into the air, not the water. Shortly after attending that workshop I knew I needed to learn more and I also wanted to know how to make my own products at home. I came across Krissy from The Inspired Little Pot who has her own recipes to make laundry powder, deodorant, hand wash, body wash, chest rub, moisturisers (and so much more) and I have since made all of my own.
But the one blend that has made the most impact on our lives is On-guard, Dōterra’s Protective Blend. These are powerhouse oils to help support a healthy immune system. I use this on my kids every day. This blend helps protect them from environmental and seasonal threats. I roll it onto their spine at night and they also apply it themselves to the soles of their feet before socks and shoes band heading out to school.
The more I used the oils and witnessed the benefits and the results, the more I realised that I needed to share them with my friends and family.
