Our DIY energising ‘WAKE UP’ essential oil inhaler

Essential oils have been around for a while now, but recently they have been spoken about in the media, online, in magazines and advertised on the daily, let’s just say they are becoming extremely popular, and we say FINALLY! Whether it’s to calm yourself down before bed, using it as a perfume, cleaning, diffusing mist around the house or dabbing a little on the kiddies before a day of school, they are becoming more mainstream than ever before, and we love it!

But what actually are essential oils and how and why should we be introducing them into our lives…

Essential oils are the essence of a plant, distilled and prepared. Inside many plants—hidden in roots, seeds, flowers, and bark etc are concentrated, highly potent chemical compounds. These natural compounds are essential oils. Essential oils give a plant its scent, protect it from hazardous environmental conditions, and even assist it with pollination. If these natural chemicals are properly extracted, they can be used to help you physically, mentally, and emotionally in your daily life.

Now with more and more research being conducted around the world, scientific proof is being documented that they actually work on so many different levels (have a skim of this article to see the science behind oils https://www.doterra.com/US/en/science)

The right essential oil can be used in so many ways. Cooking, household cleaning, emotional health, hayfever, sleep, boosting immunity, stress relief, cleanse, sickness relief (common cold) and much more.

Today we want to share with you our very own DIY inhaler that Rayne uses when she rises in the morning.

This is so simple; the hardest part is waiting for the inhalers to arrive in the mail!

For a morning energiser ‘WAKE UP CALL’ you will need;

  • Tweezers
  • Shallow bowl water
  • Oil blend of choice – we used 10 drops Litsea and Wild Orange and 5 drops Peppermint and Lavender. Email us for a link to purchase rayne@rayneembley.com.au
  • Inhaler parts ( You can buy it from Amazon using this link)
  • Cotton wicks (comes with an inhaler)

Method

  1. In a bowl add a small amount of water, only a few TBSPs.
  2. Add drops of the oil into the bowl and give it a little mix.
  3. Drop the filter in the bowl and let it sit for about 30 seconds, turning it over with tweezers.
  4. Use the tweezers to push it into the cannister.

With all the Christmas parties, late nights, early mornings and just the crazy exhaustion of this time of year, this little inhaler will give you a little pep in your step as soon as that alarm goes off in the morning.

If you’re starting out don’t be put off by all the amount of oils out on the market or differing opinions. Start off with a few basics and see how you go. It’s important to make sure they are good, high-quality oils so no cheap stuff please, it might be hazardous to inhale or use on the skin.

Have a go yourself!! Enjoy!!
