WA Good Food Guide Announces Southern Weekender
The well-known Gourmet Escape isn’t returning this year but if like us, you look forward to this incredible event every year then don’t fret, we have some fabulous news for you!
The West Australian Good Food Guide has pulled together some of the South West’s most notable chefs and restaurants to put on an event to remember, the Southern Weekender. The Southern Weekender is set to take place across four days in November from the 19th – 22nd. Featuring some of West Australia’s best culinary talent, from chefs to growers, winemakers and distillers, they will be sharing their talent and taste with guests across six exclusive events.
Set amongst one of WA’s most travelled to and idyllic locations, Margaret River, the event is something never seen before and will highlight the regions renowned dining destination and food lovers. This is the perfect excuse to grab a group of friends and head down after work on a Friday and indulge in delicious food and wine all weekend. Pair that back with accommodation deals for ticket holders and what’s not to love!
Here’s a sneak peek into the weekend itinerary;
Kicking off with an official opening party set in the courtyard at Wise Winery, a venue that boasts one of the most spectacular ocean vistas in the region. Indulge in Wise gin cocktails, Wise wine and beers by Eagle Bay Brewing Co. complete with canapes, a DJ and bar service until late into the night, the perfect way to kick off the Southern Weekender in style.
Starting in the afternoon, an icon of the Margaret River region, Cape Lodge, will launch their newly refurbished Wine Lounge with an afternoon of bubbles and bites on their lakeside deck with a super fresh seafood BBQ served up from Executive Chef, Tony Howell.
That same afternoon at the River Hotel, Margaret River (owned by the same operators as the iconic Local Hotel in South Fremantle), the Rose All Day event is set amongst the coolest courtyard in the region, with DJ Katie B on the decks and some of the South-West’s best producers pouring tastings all day, alongside incredible canapes, designed by the passionate kitchen team using premium WA produce.
That evening, at Wills Domain, the WAGFG Spring Fling will raise a glass to celebrate 20 years of outstanding wine production at the estate. Award-winning chef Seth James will craft a special party menu including spring lamb, oysters and a Korean style spit-roasted pig. It’s a chance to celebrate with a night of free-flowing drinks, cocktails, spectacular food and dancing under the stars at this iconic estate.
Now you have chosen whether to Rose all Day or enjoy Long Lunch in the Paddock, you just need to find somewhere to stay…lucky there are some gorgeous places to wake up to with the girls or your other half, and for a special rate too!
