Your Summer Perth event guide

Perth has been getting busier and busier. So many wicked openings and new cool venues to see, we are now rivalling our cousins over in the East with ease. From pop up bars, hotel launches to music festivals, we have the low down on how you can spend your weekends with your best friends over the coming weeks.

Wednesday 4th December– Vic Park Hotel

A neighbourhood favourite is getting a revamp and it’s looking better than ever. With a menu crafted around grazing, grilling, paired alongside a new cocktail menu, this will be your new local. Famous for their signature botanical gin The Vic, they’re shaking up other cocktails such as the fairy bread topped Birthday Cake Colada and if that still doesn’t tempt you, the Sunday morning bottomless brekkie and gin n juice cocktails definitely will.

Thurs 5th December – The Old Synagogue

This heritage-listed landmark is making a comeback, a place for the top of your list when you next visit iconic Fremantle. After 10 years of sitting empty, this place has transformed into a multi-faceted hospitality venue filled with life, music, entertainment, drinks and bites.

The Old Synagogue will be home to four individual venues that have their own unique vibe, drinks and ambience. Opening just in time for summer, take your venue pick from Mr Chapple’s, Tonic & Ginger, L’Chaim and The Arbor. Showcasing a rooftop bar, a hidden small bar located in the cellar, a beautiful beer garden overlooking Fremantle Oval and dining experience of mouth-watering Asian dishes and cocktails.

The Old Synagogue will be a perfect spot catering to all occasions from dates to casual drinks or big celebrations. I’m sure the sunset there would be pretty gorgeous too. If you have an event coming up let them know as they would love to book you a site tour…

Friday 6th December – KARTEL

Taking a seat under the red and white umbrellas at the stunning Elizabeth Quay, Kartle is back again for its second year in a South American inspired way. Opening on the 6th December, there is no better place to sip on an icy cold beverage while overlooking the Swan River and city skyline.

You may have been here before but this year the drink menu boasts a delightful selection of frozen margaritas, mixed cocktails, domestic wines, loads of local breweries to fulfil the line-up and our very own Kartel Cerveza on tap.

We know already this will be a popular spot. Accommodating to your furry friend, mid-week drinks, a sundowner with colleagues or a night out with mates – Kartel will hit the spot in more just a way or two.

Thursday 12 December – The Dock Wharf Bar

Back for the third time, The Dock is anchoring at Fremantle’s treasured Victoria Quay wharf as part of this Summer’s Quay To Summer activation. From Friday 13 December to Wednesday 1 January, the pop-up bar will breathe life into the Swan River as visitors can revel in the views beyond the iconic Fremantle port.

Always encouraging and all-inclusive atmosphere for families, friends and even the four-legged fur babies, guests can bask in live entertainment throughout the day and DJs as the sun sets into the night. Not only are there 16 draught taps from the likes of Gage Roads Brewing Co, Feral Brewing Co, South Fremantle Brewing, Otherside Brewing Co, Matso’s Beer and Hello Sunshine Cider, but you can indulge in a diverse coastal-inspired street food menu the whole family will enjoy. How do tacos, wings and ceviche platters on rotation sound?

Opening January 2020 – The Galway Hooker

Just in time to kick off the festive season and get merry, Perth will be getting its first Irish Pub where beachgoers can enjoy the perfect pint of Guinness overlooking the Indian Ocean. From the team who brought Perth one of its longest-running Irish Pubs, Durty Nellies, they now bring us The Galway Hooker.

Stocked with Australia’s largest Irish whiskey selections, over 70 to be exact, as well as a Guinness only cool room – The Galway Hooker and its team will be dedicated to pouring the perfect pint of Guinness alongside Scarborough views.

Tues 31 – Day 1 Origin Fields w/ Tyler The Creator

Wed 1 Jan – Day 2 Origin Fields w/ RUFUS DE SOUL

If you haven’t got around to planning New Years just yet but want to have a night full of dancing and day drinking, Origin Fields is for you!

An annual Perth event, Origin Fields is here again to deliver one of the best line ups we’ve seen at the central and convenient Wellington Square. It’s back with a bang with not just one night of celebrations. Origin Fields is bringing in the New Year over a two-day festival. The two-day new years’ celebration hosted on 31 December and 1 January has secured more massive names allowing them to keep their promise in providing West Australia with the largest festival in the state.

With artists such as Tyler The Creator, The Veronicas, Golden Features and Rufus De Soul, this could just be the event of the year.
